CELEBRATING 18 YEARS OF BUWW COVERINGS
FROM GARAGE TO GLOBAL
In 1993, Phil Zeilinger started his own upholstery business from his home, mostly repairing furniture for large furniture companies. His true entrepreneurial goals, however, lay elsewhere. Having worked in the machine-tool coverings business for several years, Zeilinger felt the itch to go out on his own and create a company that would set the standard for machine tool protection solutions—from both a product and service standpoint. From a small rented space in Rockford, Ill., BUWW Coverings was born.
Building an enterprise
Over the years, the company grew steadily. In 1996, BUWW moved its U.S operations to a 10,000 square-foot facility in Rockford. Four short years later, the company expanded to Canada, with a 5,600 square-foot facility in St. Thomas, Ontario.
Over the next decade, the rapid growth continued, with facilities in
“We were doing quite a bit of work in Canada and Mexico, and our strong commitment to customer service made expanding into those areas an easy decision,” says Zeilinger. “Being closer to our customers not only made it easier to fulfill on-site service requirements and assure quicker product delivery, but it also allowed us to be a better, more hands-on partner.”
Today, the company employs 50 and provides a wide range of machine-tool protection solutions and services, including guide-way covers, custom enclosures and horizontal- and vertical-mounting bellows. It boasts a 37,000 square-foot U.S. facility, a 10,000 square-foot facility in Canada, a 9,000 square-foot facility in Mexico and a 14,000 square-foot facility in Brazil. By following BUWW’s proven business model, Zeilinger says, the Brazil facility has become the number one provider of way cover and way-cover repair in the country.
“My vision has always been to provide a level of customer service and satisfaction that is above the expectation,” Zeilinger explains.
Our Professionals
BUWW's professionals work with customers on an ongoing basis to find the best solutions for their machine-protection needs—including visiting customers’ factories to devise, manufacture and install custom solutions. Zeilinger says his customers rely on BUWW’s knowledgeable professionals to act as strategic partners. Rather than expecting customers to identify and request specific solutions, BUWW product and repair specialists analyze each customer’s situation and provide the appropriate consultation, products and services. This proactive, problem-solving attitude toward customer service instills trust and appreciation in BUWW’s customers.
“I like to know my customers on a first-name basis. This allows me to meet their needs faster and easier,” he says.
As BUWW has grown, BUWW's vision for exceptional customer service and hard work has been impressed on every new hire and within every new location.
With the company’s continued expansion—BUWW opened a new 16,000-square foot facility in Murrieta, California; having a solid business philosophy and a superior technology partner to provide customer service and satisfaction above and beyond our customers’ expectations at all cost.”

My Christmas Wish For You
My Christmas wish for you, my friend
Is not a simple one
BUWW Christmas Party 2010 |
BUWW Christmas 2010 |
For you I wish hope, joy and peace
Days filled with warmth and sun
I wish you love and friendship too
Throughout the coming year
Lots of laughter and happiness
To fill your world with cheer
May you count your blessings, one by one
And when totaled by the lot
May you find all you've been given
To be more than what you sought
May your journeys be short, your burdens light
May your spirit never grow old
May all your clouds have silver linings
And your rainbows pots of gold
I wish this all and so much more
May all your dreams come true
May you have a Merry Christmas friend
And a happy New Year too..

It may be called Turkey Day? Thanksgiving Day is about more than just the bird.
A lot of cultures around the world often celebrated the harvest season with feasts to offer thanks to higher powers for their sustenance and survival.
In 1541 Spaniard Francisco Vásquez de Coronado and his troops celebrated a "Thanksgiving" while searching for New World gold in what is now the Texas Panhandle.
Later such feasts were held by French Huguenot colonists in present-day Jacksonville, Florida (1564), In 1607, English colonists and Abnaki Indians at Maine's Kennebec River, and in 1610, Jamestown, Virginia (when the arrival of a food-laden ship ended a brutal famine.
In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. It wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.
Everything we know about the three-day Plimoth gathering comes from a description in a letter wrote by Edward Winslow, leader of the Plimoth Colony, in 1621, Monac said that feast was not something that was supposed to be repeated again and again. It wasn't even a Thanksgiving, which in the 17th century was a day of fasting. It was a harvest celebration."The letter had been lost and for more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states.
When, in 1841 Boston publisher Alexander Young printed Winslow's brief account of the feast and added his own twist, dubbing it the "First Thanksgiving."
President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving Day a national holiday in 1863. In 1941 President Franklin Roosevelt established the current date for observance, the fourth Thursday of November.
The truth is the first "real" Thanksgiving happened two centuries later from when happened.

House Approves Lipinski-Manzullo Bill to Bolster U.S. Manufacturing, Put Americans Back to Work
On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 379-38 for bipartisan legislation requiring the Administration to consult with the private sector to implement a national manufacturing strategy that will strengthen our industrial base and help put Americans back to work.
Co-sponsored by U.S. Reps. Dan Lipinski (D-IL), Don Manzullo (R-IL) and 59 other Members of Congress, the National Manufacturing Strategy Act (H.R. 4692) requires the President to create a public-private Manufacturing Strategy Board within the Commerce Department that will analyze all aspects of U.S. manufacturing, develop short- and long-term goals for job creation, and implement a strategy to achieve those goals.
The board will include federal officials, two state governors from different parties, and nine private sector leaders in the manufacturing industry. The first strategy will be due one year after the bill is signed into law, and subsequent strategies will be required every four years, in the second year of each Presidential term.
Under the bill, the President's Board will provide an annual review of the state of manufacturing, assess the implementation of the Strategy's recommendations, and recommend ways to further the Strategy's implementation. Every four years, the Government Accountability Office will analyze the implementation of the Strategy, its recommendations, and the process for developing the Strategy. The National Academy of Sciences will also be required to produce a study of the manufacturing industry to aid policymakers. Public hearings will be held prior to the Strategy's development and a draft of the report will be made available for 30 days for public comments that may be incorporated into the final version."Manufacturing is the lifeblood of the American economy and its continued strength is key to putting Americans back to work. For too long, manufacturing has received second-class treatment from our government. While Washington hesitates to act, American industries are withering under intense global competition and jobs have gone overseas," said Manzullo, founder and co-chair of the House Manufacturing Caucus. "It's time for the federal government to get serious and implement an agenda to strengthen American manufacturing and restore American jobs, and that's exactly what this legislation will require."

Manufacturing Puts People to Work!
If the country does not manufacture what it consumes it will loses the stature as a superpower. This is the one of the main conclusion of a poll of 1000 Americans. Very few people are saying we should do nothing. They want a rebirth of manufacturing. 47% of voters said the government should be limited to incentives and trade policy. 39% said the government should do "whatever is required to "revitalize" manufacturing. The support is consistent across all the demographics and represents "very high numbers".
59% of voters favor tariffs on products from countries with low environmental standards. It is all about Buy American and efforts to improve our infrastructure.

Let’s talk a little bit about Customer Service.
Customer service is vital to every business. It is a simple philosophy that should be practiced by everyone in an organization, regardless of their position. The customer service representative must be able to understand customer needs. When a product or service does not perform as expected they should be capable of finding alternative solutions. In a timely manner this person should be able to “think” faster than the customer. It is a little more than treating your customers like you would want to be treated. It is treating your customers the way they want to be treated. Understanding that what you would expect might be different than what your customer might expect.
